There are many foods that can be used as Natural Remedies for a Toothache.

You probably have at least one -- probably more -- of these on hand right now so you really can get instant relief.

Of course, the best of all 'natural toothache remedies' is to take good care of your teeth.

So, remember to rinse your mouth regularly, especially after meals. Regularly brush and floss. And otherwise follow good oral hygiene.

However, even the most diligent of us can fall victim to the occasional toothache pain. Try these natural remedies before you reach for an over-the-counter medication and while your are waiting to make a trip to the dentist.

4 Common Foods That Can Stop the Pain and act as Natural Toothache Remedies

1. Ice - Okay not really a "food" but you do have some, don't you?

If you have a toothache or not, you are probably cringing right now.  "Put ice on a toothache?  Is he crazy?"

Probably.  But I do not want you to put the ice in your mouth.  Instead you can relieve your toothache pain by gently rubbing the ice on the soft pad between the forefinger and the thumb for a few minutes

This works by overwhelming the pain impulses that usually travel along the nerve pathways. It has a 60 to 90% success rate.

2. Salt - A good salt water mouthwash is one of the best known of the natural toothache cures.  Salt helps kill and rid the tooth of infection.

3. Hot Pepper Powder - Mix a pinch of hot pepper powder in with the salt for even better results. Also rub it on the gums to numb the pain -- if you can stand the heat.

4. Garlic and Onions - Place a cut piece of garlic or a piece of fresh onion with a pinch of salt on the affected tooth.  This will even more effectively kill the infection (garlic and onion have antibacterial properties that kill the germs in the mouth) and stop the pain.

These are common toothache cures.  Some have a pain relieving effect and act as natural toothache remedies while others kill the infection causing the pain.  The trick here is to try different ones until you get relief.  In fact, there are many more foods that you may have in your house -- or are very easy to find -- that you can try.

Not every food or cure is going to work for every person or pain.  Everyone is different and there are many different causes of toothache and mouth pain.  So the best thing to do is to try different remedies until you find the one that works for you and your toothache.

The best things about these natural toothache remedies is that they are common, harmless and easy to try.  So you can easily try them all until you find the right one for you.
