How to Conduct a Business Name Search in South Carolina
- 1). Navigate to the Secretary of State website, which offers a Business Filings search capacity (see Resources for a link).
- 2). Type the name of the business that you are trying to search for into the text box marked "Corporation Name." If the information is available, type the entire name of the business into the text box. If you only know some of the name, enter in as much as you can remember. The business name is the only information that can be entered into the search engine, so enter in as much information as possible to help narrow the search.
- 3). Click the "Search" button below the text box. If the business is licensed in the state of South Carolina, it will appear under the search results. The search results will show the name of the business, its address and any other contact information associated with it.
