    Role of Vitamin A

    • Vitamin A is helpful in preventing and treating several conditions, including acne, psoriasis, ulcers, thyroid disease, viral infections and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It is also vital in promoting eye health.

    Where Vitamin A Is Found

    • Vitamin A is found in calf liver, eggs and cow's milk. It is also naturally present in plant foods through carotenoids, which are provitamin A compounds. Some examples are beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, gamma-carotene, lycopene and lutein. They are present in spinach, kale, carrots, leafy greens, sweet potatoes, cantaloupes, tomatoes, asparagus and broccoli.

    Role of Vitamin C

    • Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is instrumental in synthesizing collagen, which makes up blood vessels, bone and tendons. It is also helpful in healing tissue, preventing certain diseases and conditions and is a vital antioxidant.

    Where Vitamin C Is Found

    • Vitamin C is abundant in citrus fruits, watermelon, green peppers, strawberries, leafy greens, cauliflower and kiwi.

    • Deficiencies in vitamins A and C are revealed in several symptoms or even severe diseases and conditions. A deficiency of vitamin A might result in vision problems or dry eyes, dry skin, dry hair and even a compromised immune system. A deficiency of vitamin C might be the cause of easily bruised skin, irritability, depression, infections, bleeding gums, slow-healing tissue and muscular fatigue.
