Weight loss, reduced confidence, and emotional instability are also noticed among individuals who are deprived of the adequate amount and quality of sleep.
These negative effects of sleep attacks further emphasize the need for an immediate treatment or cure for this condition.
Sleep panic can also be treated using similar approaches applied in treating other panic and anxiety disorders.
The individual must first learn to eliminate his or her irrational thoughts and fears by undergoing cognitive behavioral therapies.
Cognitive behavioral therapies also help in shaping more positive and more beneficial behaviors.
Pharmaceutical approaches such as medications also present another alternative approach in treating sleep panic attacks and other psychological disorders.
These psychological drugs are regulated and distributed as treatments for sleep panic attacks.
However, taking medications often ends up being a second choice because of the side effects of medicines and drugs.
Although most side effects of these medications are only minor such as headaches and loss of appetite, some psychological drugs have also been linked to major side effects.
The individual taking the drug and the psychiatrist prescribing the drug should take extreme care and caution.
Incorrect dosage, prescription and intake of such drugs can lead to very serious consequences.
