• Armour Thyroid Extract is processed and manufactured from the thyroid gland of pigs. It is prescribed for patients who are diagnosed with underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism).
  
  Armour Thyroid is prescribed in dosages called grains which contain two of the most important thyroid hormones: levothyroxine (also called T4) and L-triiodothyronine (also called T3). The active ingredient includes 38 mcg levothyroxine (T4) and 9 mcg liothyronine (T3) per grain, as well as small amounts of T1, T2, and calcitonin (which are not measured to exact standards).
