How to Write a Design Resume Without Experience
- 1). Attach artwork, design blueprints or pictures of physical objects you have designed. You never know what exactly you will be doing once you are hired. If you include a wide range of your work, your potential employer may even realize that your skills could be valuable in a different position, or the employer may even create a position for you because of your unique set of skills.
- 2). Tell your potential employer in a paragraph or two why you would be well suited for the position despite your lack of work experience. Make sure you write in the positive instead of the negative, and focus on what value you could bring to the company instead of defending your past.
- 3). Include a critique of one of the company's products. Spend a lot of time on this so that it shows that you are dedicated, hard working and perceptive. You can set yourself apart from the other applicants by showing that you are not afraid to speak your mind or give honest feedback. This is one thing that many employers crave because it indicates confidence, initiative and ambition. By showing how you would improve a product you can give your potential employer an idea of what kind of value you would provide as an employee, and this will separate you from your competition.
