How to Replace an Earring Post With a Hoop
- 1). Remove the bead from the earring post setting gently, using the pliers. If the bead is only glued to the post, use a small flathead screwdriver to separate the bead from the post. It is important to be gentle and take your time in this process. If you are not careful, you risk damaging or breaking the bead.
- 2). Place the bead in a new blank setting. Settings are blank jewelry findings used to encase beads and pendants. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes to fit almost any bead. Measure your bead to make sure it fits the setting.
- 3). Glue the bead into the blank setting. Wait for it to completely dry before handling it. Follow the manufacturer's directions for drying time.
- 4). Place the jump ring on the loop of the setting using the jewelry pliers to open and close the loop. Inspect your work and ensure that the loop is fully closed. If it is not it could easily slip off the earring and get lost.
- 5). Draw the jump ring through the earring hoop so that it dangles when you wear it. Keep the hoops' catch closed when you are not wearing them so that the setting does not fall off.
