Set Up the Blood Glucose Meter

    • 1). Press and hold the OK button on the meter to turn it on. Use the up/down arrows on the meter to highlight the language you wish to display. Click "OK" to select it. A menu will then appear asking you to set the date and time.

    • 2). Set the date and time by using the up/down arrows to scroll through the days and months of the year. Press the "OK" button to select the appropriate date.

    • 3). Repeat the process to set the time. Then confirm that your meter settings are correct by selecting "Yes" on the main screen.

    Testing With the Meter

    • 1). Start with the meter turned off and insert a new test strip (from the vial of test strips included in your kit) into the port on top of the meter. When inserting into the port, make sure the three bars on the test strip are facing you. The meter should turn on automatically when the strip is in place and ask for a number code.

    • 2). Input the code marked on your test strip vial into the meter by using the up/down buttons to select the appropriate number.

    • 3). Place a new lancet (needle) in the blood sampler (included in your Lifescan One Touch kit) and wash your hands thoroughly.

    • 4). Hold the blood sampler firmly against the tip of your finger, and press the plastic release button near the top of the mechanism. A round spot of blood should now appear on your finger.

    • 5). Touch the blood on your finger to the top of the test strip. Wait about 5 seconds, and your result will appear on the display, along with the date, time and units of measure.
