Romance Author Spotlight: Recommended Books of Lisa Marie Rice
Lisa Marie Rice has been published for over a decade, first digitally published with Red Sage Publishing in 2003, and then with Ellora’s Cave in 2004. Lisa is currently published with Avon Red, and best known for her Romantic Suspense novels that had a heavy sensual element to them. Lisa Marie’s heroes have usually worked for the government with top secret security clearance, and tend to be loners.
Her heroines are very much on their own and have unique careers. A Lisa Marie Rice hero has many alpha type tendencies and is very protective toward the heroine, who they bond with very quickly. In turn, the heroine falls head first in love with these men who have targeted these women as their soul mates.
The Midnight Trilogy, first published with Ellora’s Cave in 2004, is a big fan favorite. Midnight Manfeatures Suzanne Barron, an interior decorator who ends up falling for her new tenant, John Huntington, a former SEAL. The moment these two meet, they end having a passionate date that leads to more questions than answers for Suzanne, who is then attacked by an unknown assailant. Fearing for her life, John takes Suzanne into hiding. These two are now living in very close quarters, and their attraction for one another blooms into a heady love affair that might never burn out.
In Midnight Run, book two, there is another alpha hero in that of undercover police officer Lieutenant Tyler “Bud” Morrison, who meets the very innocent and naïve looking, Claire Parks at a seedy dance club.
His protective instincts roar for Claire, who appears out of her element. Claire has been sheltered by her wealthy father for most of her life. She battled leukemia for years and even survived a kidnapping. She’s now living on her own and wants to experience all that life has to offer. She is a virgin who finally wants to have sex, and when Bud comes to her rescue, she chooses him as her first lover. Bud and Claire fall into bed within hours of meeting. He is a goner where Clair is concerned and wants many more nights with her, even though his job could make her a target.
In Midnight Angel, the heroine, Allegra Ennis, a talented harp player, has been recently blinded in an attack by someone she trusted. During an event, she meets former SEAL, Douglas Kowaski, who has been scarred and disfigured. The deranged man who blinded Allegra still stalks her from prison and now has found a way to finished her off for good. Douglas decides he will be the one man Allegra turns to for safety. Midnight Angel is a modern day fairy tale with a sensual twist.
In 2007, Marie started publishing the Dangerous trilogy with Avon Red. The first book, Dangerous Lover is one of my all-time favorite romances. Unlike Marie’s past heroes, Jack Prescott is more the silent quiet type whose one purpose in life is to make Caroline Lake his own for all time. Caroline is his reason for breathing and living. Caroline had a privileged life but after the deaths of her parents and her brother, who lived through the car accident but was paralyzed, she is barely hanging on. She has no money and no one else to turn to, until a strange and tired looking man comes to her on Christmas Eve. She gives him a room in her home and soon they become so much more than just tenants. Jack helps Caroline heal, and she in turn shows him what love is. But an enemy of Jack is on his way to destroy him and everything he holds dear- Caroline.
The stark emotions this unfeeling man has for this woman is extremely powerful. If you have a thing for a damaged hero and the woman who can help him believe in his self-worth, you must read Dangerous Lover.
Dangerous Secrets, the second book in this trilogy, is about Nicholas Ames is a rich stockbroker who woos the local town librarian. Actually, Nick is a former Delta operator on an undercover mission to seduce Charity because she is friends with Vassily Worontzoff, a Russian immigrant and acclaimed world renowned writer. He also happens to be head of a worldwide crime syndicate that aids terrorists. If Nick can get close to Charity, he will be able to get to Worontzoff and stop him from ruining more innocent lives.
Dangerous Secrets is an erotic thriller with more than enough steam on the pages to satisfy readers.
Dangerous Passion, the third book, is where Lisa takes some chances, specifically with her hero- Viktor “Drake” Drakovich. He is cold, calculating, and even though he has the whole world at his fingertips, he is an empty shell of a man. Drake is a borderline villain because his past is a murky one. He has risen to the top and became a billionaire because he destroyed so many to get to where he is now. He trusts no one. Everything changes the moment he spies a beautiful painting. Grace Larsen lives and breathes her art. The majority of Dangerous Passion takes place in Drake’s protected Manhattan penthouse. Think of it like a fortress where he is the king and ruler. A dictator of sorts. Grace is the damsel in distress; the princess he must protect and his future queen.
Dangerous Passion delivers a passionate romance where a man becomes undone by a woman.
Lisa Marie Rice’s sex scenes simmer with unbridled love that cannot be ignored or contained. These are just a few of Lisa back titles I would recommend any romance reader try. Her trademark heroes put the “A” in alpha and bow down to their heroines, who are they’re entire world.
