    • 1). Contact local wildlife societies and ask for the contact information for area beekeepers. Contact the beekeepers and explain the problem. Some beekeepers will remove bees from trees and transfer the insects to a new home at little or no cost, especially if the bees produce honey.

    • 2). Get a bee insecticide from a local home or garden store. Various types are available, including sprays, powders and fogs. Read each product carefully for side effects and potential tree damage. Buy a natural bee smoker to calm bees before removal and reduce stinging. Avoid bee smokers with chemicals.

    • 3). Use the bee smoker. Follow all directions.

    • 4). Apply the insecticide to the tree while wearing the gloves, veil, long-sleeved shirt and coveralls. Tuck the bottoms of the coveralls into your shoes, leaving no skin or socks exposed. Spray or dust the insecticide into the tree according to directions if the bees have nested inside. Spray or dust honeycombs and other evidence of bees on the branches. Note how long the product takes to work and when it is safe to return to the tree.

    • 5). Remove any nests, hives and honeycombs in the tree or on branches. Wrap plastic or rags around the items to avoid attracting other insects. Dispose of the items in a trash can with a secured lid.
