    • 1). Lay the white shorts on a flat work surface. Press paper towels into the fabric to wick up excess salad dressing. Discard the soiled paper towels.

    • 2). Pour a mound of baking soda over the salad dressing stain on the shorts. Leave the baking soda on the fabric for 30 minutes to absorb oil. Brush the baking soda off the shorts and into a trash can.

Fill a bucket with a half-and-half solution of white vinegar and water. Soak your white shorts in the vinegar solution for 30 minutes. The vinegar helps break down the remaining greasy salad oil stain.

    • 4). Remove the shorts from the bucket and rinse with cool water. Wring out the shorts and lay them back down on the work surface. Mix powdered laundry detergent and water in a bowl to form a thick paste.

    • 5). Spread the detergent paste over the remaining salad dressing stain. Rub the fabric fibers together to work the paste into the fabric. Let the paste soak into the fabric for 20 minutes.

    • 6). Launder your shorts with the powdered laundry detergent and chlorine bleach. Use the hottest water possible, according to the care label on the shorts. Before drying your shorts, make sure the salad dressing stain is completely gone since the dryer's heat causes stains to set.
