How to Paint on Wine Bottles

    Paint Your Wine Bottles

    • 1). Clean the wine bottles you will be painting with soap and water to remove any wine residue on the interior and dirt or grease on the exterior. Dry the bottles thoroughly.

    • 2). Paint the wine bottles using a soft paintbrush. If you want the bottles to have an even coat of a single color, use a sponge to cover the entire surface. Use small brushes for details if you are painting a pattern or design.

    • 3). Let the paint air-dry if you used opaque acrylic paint. If you used Pebeo's Vitrea 160 paint, let the paint dry and then bake the bottle in the oven for 40 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 4). Place the bottle in the oven at room temperature and let it warm with the oven. The heat will seal the paint and give it a crackled, iridescent appearance.
