How to Draw a Siamese Cat
- 1). Draw two ovals apart from each other for the shoulders and hips of the cat. The shoulder oval should be slender and tilt forward slightly. The hip oval should be vertical and more round.
- 2). Connect these two ovals by first drawing a slightly convex (curving upward like a hill) line from the top of the shoulder to the top of the hip. Before you draw the bottom line, mark a point halfway between the bottom and middle of the closest curve of the oval. Take your second line from the bottom of the shoulder to this point in the shape of a swoosh.
- 3). Draw two lines beginning at the top of the shoulders and the front of the shoulder. These two lines should narrow as they come away from the body at an angle. Draw the line approximately as long as the width of the shoulder oval you drew to accommodate the long neck of the Siamese cat.
- 4). Connect the two neck lines by drawing a rounded, triangular shaped head at the end of the lines. The nose and mouth should be drawn at the narrowest portion of the head. Draw almond shaped eyes just above and to either side of the nose. Fill in the eyes with a round iris and slitted pupil.
- 5). Draw the ears on the widest portion of the head. The ears should angle away from the center of the head at about a 45-degree angle and should be drawn as tall triangles.
- 6). Draw legs by taking lines from the inside and outside of the shoulder and hips downward, narrowing as they come away from the body. Siamese cats often have long legs, so draw the lines for the legs approximately two-thirds the length of the body. The back line of each leg should have an angle pointing away from the head drawn halfway down for the leg joint. Round off the legs with a small, U-shaped paw pointing in the same direction as the head. Repeat these steps for the legs on the opposite side of the body, only making them slightly shorter to show depth.
- 7). Draw a long, thin tail off the back of the hips. The tail should curve upward and come to a rounded point at the end.
- 8). Erase all crossover lines, such as the line crossing between the head and neck, or between the shoulder or hips and leg. Keep only enough of each line to show a jawline on the head and lines of the upper legs connecting to the body on the shoulder and hips.
- 9). Shade the area around the eyes, nose, and mouth with a bold drawing pencil, such as 2B. Do not shade the entire head. The tail, ears, and legs should also be shaded to show the signature point pattern of Siamese cats.
