How to Become a Walmart Distributor
- 1). Apply for a Uniform Code Council (UCC) membership. Walmart distributors are required to have a Universal Product Code (UPC) bar code prefix, which is needed to create bar codes. Include a copy of your UCC GS1 letter together with your application packet. This is a necessary requirement for all Walmart distributors.
- 2). Request a Supplier Evaluation Report from Dun & Bradstreet (D&B).This report provides detailed information about your business, such as financial history, risk summary and payment trends. Analyze your company's financial standing to see if you can afford the opportunity. Becoming a Walmart distributor is a big challenge, so you have to be ready for it.
- 3). Complete Walmart's Online Product Submission. You can do this by visiting Walmart's official website. Make sure to provide all requested information.
- 4). If you have a minority or a woman-owned company, become certified through the National Minority Supplier Development Council. A certification is required upon acceptance.
- 5). Submit a copy of your UCC membership together with a product sample upon the request of the assigned Walmart buyer. The mailing address will be provided by the Walmart buyer.
