How To Fix A Receding Gum

Gum recession is a situation where the gum holding your teeth in place for a perfect dental formula begins to move slowly down to expose the root of a tooth.
The exposed tooth sometimes becomes sensitive to temperature or touch because the nerve inside the root has tiny extensions that may reach the root surface.
Anything from hormonal changes in the body to poor nutrition, injury or even stress can be responsible for developing a receding gum.
It is this sensitivity of the receding gum portion of the dental formula which could be very severe in some people that get the sufferer worried to the point that they begin to seek medical attention.
This condition can be fixed in one of several ways which include:
  1. Nutrition - An abundant supply of nutritional elements that aids healing is essential to heal or repair a receding gum condition.
Minerals, vitamins, fats and essential fatty acids, active enzymes, carbohydrates and complex sugars, proteins and essential amino acids, and other phytonutrients should form the substances found mostly in a sufferer's diet.
  2. Brushing and Flossing - Do these at least twice a day.
    Morning and evening preferably.
The flossing aspect is even more necessary if you want to prevent farther recession of the gum because plague embedded between the teeth and under the gum is more easily removed by flossing than by anything else.
  3. Regular night and early morning cleaning of your mouth - Plague normally is opportunistic in night sleep conditions so, brush your teeth or do floss before going to bed and immediately after you wake up in the morning.
  4. Removal of Object - If you develop receding gum due to injury, do well to remove the object or substance that inflicted the injury.
This will stop the receding gum and prevent further gum root exposure.
After this, the gum will start to heal naturally.
What you need to do at this time is to help speed up the process by providing the right nutrition as stipulated in point "1" above.
  5. Avoid acidic food and drinks - The regular intake of Citrus fruits and juices, tomatoes, pineapple and carbonated beverages will expose the receding gum to too much of acid contained in such food which will eventually cause additional damage as they aggravate the sensitive gum.
The fix or repair of receding gum is inclusive but not limited to those mentioned above.
