How to Create a Fillable PDF Form
- 1). Open in Adobe Acrobat the PDF file you want to turn into a form.
- 2). Click "Tools" in the top menu bar and then select "Forms." The most commonly used fillable form field is the text box field, so this tutorial will use that element as an example. Select the "Text Field Tool" option from the "Forms" submenu.
- 3). Click your mouse and hold. Drag your mouse until you create a shape that closely matches the size of the form field you want to create, and then release it.
- 4). Specify your desired text field properties in the dialog box that appears onscreen after releasing your click. You can change the field name, adjust border types and colors, set the font, add validation information and much more. Click the "Close" button after setting your options.
- 5). Move your cursor over the middle of the text field. Click and drag the field to precisely position it within your PDF.
- 6). Move your cursor over the sides or corners of the text field. Click and drag when the resizing arrows appear to precisely size the field.
- 7). Click the "Hand Tool" icon in the top menu bar. When you move the tool over the field you just created, the hand takes on a cursor shape. Click once when this change occurs to select the field and preview its appearance and functionality.
- 8). Click "File" in the top menu bar and then select "Save" to confirm your changes. Repeat the previous steps to create additional text fields, or other types of user-selected form fields.
