    Picture Frame

    • 1). Determine the width and height of the wall using a tape measure.

    • 2). Find the dimensions of the picture or artwork that you want to frame. The size of the frame you need will be dependent on the dimensions of the picture or artwork that needs to be framed.

    • 3). Decide where the frame will be located on the wall. Use the tape measure to find the optimal distance from the ceiling to the top of the frame.

    • 4). Place painter's tape on the wall to indicate where the frames will be located. Painter's tape will not damage the wall when you eventually remove it.

    • 5). Determine how many frames you want to hang on the wall. The more frames you have will require selecting a center piece and maintaining a uniform distance between the frames.

    Wall Framing

    • 1). Decide on the type of wall you require. You can construct a full size wall or a shorter wall that is known as a pony wall. A pony wall can be constructed to provide separation from one room to another.

    • 2). Draw a design on paper of the room where you want to build the wall. Sketch on the design the general location the wall should be located.

    • 3). Measure the room to determine how big the wall will need to be. Use a tape measure to determine the height and width of the wall. Proper measurements are important so you can frame a wall that will fit into the space.

    • 4). Transfer the measurements to your paper design so you have a detailed diagram to use when constructing the wall.

    • 5). Construct or frame the wall on the ground and then raise it into place. Framing the wall on the ground will make nailing the studs and connecting pieces together easier.
