Keeping Your Hot Tub Clean

A hot tub in your garden or bathroom is always an inviting sight after a hard day at the office.
A short dip is not only relaxing but will help relieve the aches and pains of everyday life.
But unless you keep it clean, soaking in one may not be a good idea unless you want to bathe in dirty water.
To keep your hot tub free from germs, here's what you should do: Just as you need clothes to protect yourself from the elements (and avoid being jailed for indecency!), your spa needs to be covered to prevent anything undesirable from entering it (no, I'm not referring to your mother-in-law!).
This is important especially if it is located outside your home.
An uncovered tub is a magnet for all sorts of things - bird droppings, leaves, insects, pollen, perhaps even bits of space junk that have fallen to earth if you're unlucky! By covering your tub, you keep the water clean so you can use it anytime.
Plus you conserve energy since the water stays warmer longer.
Before soaking in the tub, always take a shower first.
This will prevent you from contaminating the tub with your own dirty body.
If you have guests who are using the tub with you, require them to do the same.
Unless you want to do it for laughs, it makes no sense getting into a hot tub right after you've emerged from a mudslide! You'll quickly turn the water brown that way.
Check your filter.
This keeps the tub free from dirt and other debris.
If it's dirty, clean it or replace it if necessary.
Don't fool yourself into thinking that you can reuse a dirty filter.
If you find dirt in the bottom of your hot tub, remove it promptly.
Don't let it accumulate or wait for an ocean floor to build up.
Use a vacuum to do this.
Remember dirt won't go away if you ignore it.
"Vacuum out the grit and bits from the bottom of the hot tub on a regular basis.
There are some things that won't get cycled through the filter and that includes small bits of sand and rocks that will accumulate on the bottom of your hot tub.
A simple hand held spa vacuum can easily suck up the bits from the bottom of the hot tub and keep it looking great from top to bottom," according to Christine Sostarich writing on eHow.
