How to Rid Black Birds From Trees
- 1). Blow an air horn into the tree or clang metal garbage can lids. Make as much noise as possible during the late evening and early dark hours. Drive the birds out of the tree with the excessive noises. Continue the loud noise over the course of a week and the birds will soon take up residence in a new, quieter location where they feel safe.
- 2). Remove bird feeders. Cease feeding birds from bird feeders for one week near trees where the black birds have taken up residence. If you must feed the smaller, local bird species, use suet feeders or small thistle that the black birds do not care for.
- 3). Shoot a select few black birds from the tree using a shotgun if the tree is located in a rural area where the discharge of a gun is legal. Only killing a few of the birds is a powerful deterrent because the birds will no longer see the tree as a safe roosting site and they will move on.
