Software manufacturer Hudson Soft and electronics corporation NEC collaborated to create the PC Engine video game console, which was released in Japan in 1987. The system was so popular in Japan that the companies decided to make a U.S. version, which was renamed TurboGrafx-16. New games for the system were released until 1999, some of which have remained popular because of their excellent gameplay. - In "Bonk's Adventure," you play as cave boy named Bonk who uses his teeth to climb cliffs and big head to fight enemies, which mainly consist of reptiles and dinosaurs. The game is mostly a side-scrolling adventure, though some worlds require that Bonk move upward, and on rare occasions, levels split into differing paths. Add solid animation and an enjoyable soundtrack, and it's easy to see why "Bonk's Adventure" earned a 9 out of 10 rating from HonestGamers.com.
- "Blazing Lazers" is a shooter game that puts you in command of a space vehicle to stop the Dark Squadron from destroying the earth. You rely on four weapons--the ring blaster, field thunder, power wave and photon cannon, which you can enhance with power-ups--to survive nine levels. The game's graphics, music and speedy gameplay make for an exciting experience, which HonestGamers.com rated as a perfect 10.
- Unlike modern baseball games, "World Class Baseball" doesn't include season stats or Major League Baseball teams or players; instead, it features teams such as the New York Apples and Tokyo Ninjas and players named Brick and Fuka. Regardless, the excellent gameplay earned "World Class Baseball" a perfect 10 rating from HonestGamers.com. The graphics are crisp and is combined with a great music. When hitting, the game is played from the standard catcher's point of view, but it switches to a bird's eye view when the ball is hit. What makes this game special is the artificial intelligence, which is sharp and adjusts itself so that it always challenges you.
