How to Get Started Making Bumper Stickers & Signs
- 1). Open Paint, pull down the "Image" menu and select "Attributes." Set your page size; for a page-size sign, set dimensions of 8.5 inches by 11 inches. For a bumper sticker, set dimensions at 11 inches by 8.5 inches; you can make three bumper stickers this way, saving paper. Click "OK" and the Paint workspace opens with a blank, white space.
- 2). Click the "Text" tool, which looks like an A. Click on the sign or sticker; if a text toolbar does not automatically appear, pull down the "Edit" menu and select "Text Toolbar." Choose a font and text size from the toolbar; for a sign, choose a bold font such as Arial Black; for a bumper sticker, don't forget to enlarge your font to a size is easily seen from the road.
- 3). Type the wording for the sign or the bumper sticker slogan, such as "Garage Sale Today," "I Love Cats" or "Go Yankees!"
- 4). Click further down on the sign or bumper sticker, adding more text as required, such as contact information, an address and phone number.
- 5). Add a design or graphic by clicking the "Paintbrush" tool, selecting the medium square brush head and a paint color from the "Color Picker" at the bottom of the screen. Draw the outline of the design, such as a cat head, palm tree or car. Click the "Paint Bucket" tool and click inside the drawing, which then fills with the color.
- 6). Give your materials a colored background by selecting an unused paint color from the "Color Picker" and clicking inside the white space of the sign or sticker. Color will fill behind any text or graphic you added.
- 7). (Optional for bumper stickers) Create two more bumper stickers on the middle third and bottom third of the page, either identical to the top one or completely different, using up the entire page.
