DIY Film Glazing

    • 1). Clean the inside window frame with all-purpose cleaner to remove dirt and grease. Wipe the cleaner off the frame with a lint-free cloth. Let it dry completely.

    • 2). Remove the roll of cling film from the box and loosen a couple of inches from the roll. Press the loosened section to the top of the window frame so it sticks there, keeping it as wrinkle-free as you can. If the window is wider than the roll, place the roll so the left inch or two overlaps the left side of the window frame.

    • 3). Insert your little fingers in each end of the roll to hold it. Use your thumb and forefinger on each side of the roll to hold the loosened film.

    • 4). Pull the roll downward gently with your little fingers to unroll it. Press the edges onto the window frame with your thumbs and smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles as you progress.

    • 5). Press the film across the bottom of the window frame when you reach that point. Smooth out the wrinkles and bubbles and press it to the frame to secure the film. Use a utility knife to cut the film from the roll.

    • 6). Repeat steps 2 through 5 if the window is wider than the roll of film. Place the next sheet of film so that it overlaps the first sheet about 1 inch. Apply as many sheets as necessary to cover the width of the window.

    • 7). Remove any wrinkles in the film by lifting a corner of the film and gently pulling it taut across the window. Press it back into place. Work your way around the window in this manner to remove all the wrinkles. Your film glazing is finished.
