    • 1). Locate your Windows XP installation CD and place it in your computer's CD-ROM drive.

    • 2). Reboot your computer by clicking the "Start" icon on the task bar, selecting "Turn Off Computer" and then clicking "Restart."

    • 3). Wait for the computer to show text reading "Press any key to boot from CD." Press any key on your keyboard to begin the repair process.

    • 4). Allow the CD to fully load and press "Enter" when you see the words "To setup Windows XP now."

    • 5). Accept the Windows XP licensing agreement by pressing the "F8" key.

    • 6). Choose which installation of XP you want to fix and press the "R" key on your keyboard to begin the repair process.

    • 7). Restart your computer after the process has completed and XP should be functional again.
