How to Make a Photo Look Vintage on Adobe Photoshop 7

    • 1). Open the photo that you wish to edit in Photoshop 7.

    • 2). Click on the "New Adjustment Layer" panel at the bottom of the "Layers" palette. Click on "Hue/Saturation" in the pop-up menu.

    • 3). Click the "colorize" check box in the hue adjustment panel. Drag the hue slider to around the 40 zone. Click "OK." The image will have a sepia tone.

    • 4). Hold down the "Alt" key when using Windows or the "Option" key on a Mac, and select "Merge Visible" from the "Layer" menu at the top of the screen. Photoshop will merge all layers onto a new layer at the top of the layers.

    • 5). Add a blur effect. Go to the "Filter" menu and click on "Blur," followed by "Gaussian Blur." Drag the radius slider in the "Gaussian Blur" dialogue box to 6.0. Click "OK." Click on the box set to "Normal" in the top left hand corner of the "Layers" panel and change it to "Overlay." Change the opacity of the layer to 70 percent. The photo now has a glow to it.

    • 6). Click on "New Layer" in the "Layer" palette. Click on the "Edit" menu and click on "Fill." Select black as the color and click "OK." Select the "Elliptical Marquee" tool from the tool palette. Click in the top left-hand corner of the window and drag to the bottom right-hand corner. Release the mouse. Hold down the "Alt" key for Windows or "Option" key for Mac, and click on the "Layer Mask" icon in the "Layer" palette. The image will now have a black border around it.

    • 7). Go to the "Filter" menu and click on "Blur," followed by "Gaussian Blur." Drag the radius slider in the "Gaussian Blur" dialogue box to 40. Click on the "Opacity" box in the "Layer" palette and lower it to 35 percent.

    • 8). Add noise. Click on the "New Layer" icon. Click on the "Edit" menu and click on "Fill." Select black as the color and click "OK." Go to the "Filter" menu and click on "Add Noise." Drag the amount slider to 130 percent in the dialogue box. Click "OK." Click on the box set to "Normal" in the top left hand corner of the "Layers" panel and change it to "Soft Light." Change the "Opacity" setting to 13 percent. Your photo will now have a vintage appearance.
