Why Should I Have to Add Calcium Hardness to a Vinyl Pool?
- The preferred amount of dissolved calcium in a vinyl pool is 80-150 parts per million (PPM). Adding chemicals to elevate calcium levels is not necessary in a vinyl pool.
- Calcium levels in excess of 150 PPM leads to scaling and deposits in the pool. The scaling and deposits appear to be white, crystalized rough spots.
- An elevated amount of calcium in a vinyl pool needs to be lowered. This is accomplished by replacing the water. Should the calcium need to be increased, calcium chloride chemicals are available for purchase at pool stores.
