Excited? Well, you should be! Youre on your 35th week! Your baby is now weighing around 5.5 to 6 pounds and 20 inches more or less. If he were born this week, he is likely to survive 99% and may only be required to stay in the hospital for a short period of time for a close monitoring of his oxygen intake and some other tests. Due to his size, he can no longer do some elaborate movements and his amniotic fluid level has maxed out already making the space more limited. As babys lungs are now fully developed and producing surfactant since week 32, hes less likely to have a respiratory distress syndrome. However, if you are going to have a preterm labor your doctor may give you a dose of corticosteroid to accelerate surfactant production in his lungs thus, reducing the risk respiratory distress.

As for you at 35th week, your due date is just around the corner. Bear in mind that your baby can come earlier or later than his due date. From this point on, you have to get ready for labor and delivery any minute. Although most symptoms are still on up to now some may even get intense like the itchiness that you feel around your belly area and pelvic pressure and discomforts. You still pee often and your vaginal discharge are now starting to have a tinged of blood with it. Aside from that, it may come out thicker than a few weeks ago. Internal exams are now more frequent as you get nearer to birthing. If you havent started to prepare your hospital bag and some other little details that you might need in the hospital then, now is the high time to do it. Well, a nesting instinct is pretty common during this phase. It is when you feel the urge to do numerous chores that have been put off or do things that you didnt have the energy to do in the past few months. It may be cleaning and organizing your room, decorating your babys nursery or closet or buying babys things. Even if your due may still be a month away, you and your partner may need to take a look at the hospital or maternity clinic where you plan to give birth. Taking a hospital tour can give you a better perspective on their labor and delivery areas as well as give you a better understanding on their accommodation options. Learning the fastest routes and finding out the best parking area in the hospital can also be a big help to both of you.
