If you find yourself in a situation right now where you're trying to talk your girlfriend into getting back together, you know first hand how difficult this can be.
 In fact, the more you beg and plead and try to "talk" things out, the further you're going to drive her away.
 In short, you've set out an impossible task.
  But why? Why is it so difficult to sit down like two mature adults and try to talk things over, patch things up, and carry on as though nothing happened?   Here are three good reasons:   1.
She's obviously not made this decision lightly.
 There's a good chance that she agonized over it for quite some time.
 Once the decision was made, there was no chance that she would be talked out of it.
 Even if you present a good case for getting back together, it's going to take more than that.

She wants to save face.
 What would it look like if she broke up with you only to be talked back into the relationship within hours? How would that make her look to her friends and family? People don't like to be thought of as wishy-washy and indecisive.
 It might also look like she's playing games.
  3.
The final reason is the most ominous of all.
 She simply doesn't want to be with you anymore.
 No games or second-guessing - she truly wants to end the relationship permanently.
 If she has no intention of ever reconciling, this shouldn't come as a complete surprise to you.
 Generally, there are going to be some very strong signs leading up to the breakup.
Though this is the most difficult situation to deal with, it's not over until it's over.
You still have a chance, but it's going to take an incredible amount of determination and patience.
