Headaches - What Kind Do You Get?

103 3
When we have a headache, we don't really give it much thought as we know that a good night's sleep would do it, or that it will disappear as soon as the stressful period has passed.
However, when the headache persists or we feel an entirely new type of headache with a pain that's more intense, that's when we worry.
We are aware of four kinds of headaches:
  • Tension
  • Migraine
  • Cluster
  • Hormonal
  • Others
The majority of people experience the first two headaches above.
Tension headaches Tension headaches usually occur on one side of the head and the pain is a throbbing pain.
In some cases, people with tension headaches become sensitive to light or feel like vomiting.
Fortunately, tension headaches don't last long.
If you're lucky, it will disappear in a couple of hours; for some it may take a day or two.
Migraines Migraines are the type of headaches you wouldn't even want to wish on your enemy.
Migraines can immobilize individuals for days and even weeks.
This means that migraine sufferers go through a period of non-productivity because of intense pain and a heightened sensitivity to light.
People with migraines prefer to rest in bed in a dark room.
Cluster Headaches Like migraines, cluster headaches are also very painful.
As the name suggests, the attacks come in clusters.
Pain comes and goes; just when you think you've overcome the first attack, another wave strikes.
The duration of cluster cycles can be long and drawn out (as long as a few months) and can happen either during the day or during the night.
Cluster headaches are rarer than migraines or tension headaches, and only about 1% of the population complain about them.
Those who have experienced cluster headaches describe them as "unbearable", "atrocious" or "debilitating.
" See Your Doctor if...
While headaches are common disorders and don't usually require a visit to the doctor's office, you may need to seek medical advice if the headache is different than the ones you usually get, if the pain is severe and intense, if the headache persists for days with no signs of improvement, or if you are prevented from going about your daily routine.
You must also see your doctor right away if you feel a headache an hour after hurting your head or after being in an accident (like hitting your head when you fall during skiing or fall off a ladder).
Feelings of drowsiness, a stiff neck, vomiting, and weakness in the limbs are also symptoms that require medical attention.
Can Headaches be Cured Naturally? Definitely! People tend to reach out for pain relievers or analgesics, but they work only for the short term.
It is advisable to take an all-natural dietary supplement that will help prevent headaches from happening in the first place.
Of course, stress is a key factor, and can be the underlying cause of frequent headaches so it is important to control and manage daily stress.
The wonderful thing about taking natural supplements for headaches is that they won't cause any side effects and are not habit-forming.
The pain-killing substances in most natural remedies are plant-based, reason why physical therapists and pain specialists recommend them to patients.
If you're looking for natural treatments for headaches, then select products that are made in the USA.
You're assured of wholesome ingredients that have been processed in certified labs.
