Coffee Improves Women"s Mental Health
Good news! We have always been looking for more excuses to drink coffee, and we have found another.
Woman over the age of 65 are given a memory boost, those who drink three or more cups of coffee or tea a day.
A study was conducted that has proven to improve the mental capacity for older women.
The Study We all know of coffee's wonderful effects, what you might not know is that it can actually improve your memory! The caffeine found in coffee appears to increase mental function in women over the age of 65.
The French National Institute for Health and Medical Research conducted this study to determine the effects of caffeine on men and women's bodies.
Throughout this four-year study they tested approximately 7,000 men and women over the age of 65.
Each individual was checked for any variables that might distort the study before beginning the process.
They took several tests initially to establish a mental skill level; these tests were based around the use of their memories.
They were conducted again two and four years after the first test.
Keep in mind, this study measured the effects of caffeine so this is for coffee AND tea! The Results The study was conducted on both men and women, interestingly; there were only positive results for women.
The male test results did not show any evidence of improvement to their memory (bummer!).
Researchers agree that these results indicate the sensitivity women alone share towards caffeine.
The conclusion of the study showed that caffeine is said to be a psycho-stimulant, which alters women's cognitive capacity.
Women who had reported drinking three cups prior to the study showed only slightly better results after the study.
For others around the age of 65, the impact of the caffeine showed that they were 30% less likely to have cognitively declined.
Furthermore, women around the age of 80 showed they were 70% less likely to have cognitively declined.
So drink up and stay mentally sharp, well...
for women at least!
