- 1). Open a new document in Dreamweaver 4. Choose Site>New Site. Enter the information that Dreamweaver 4 will use to manage the files in the website. Click OK.
- 2). Open the Property Inspector. This is your quick visual guide to editing features for anything that is highlighted (active). Choose Window>Properties, or press Ctrl+F3 (Apple key with F3 on Mac).
- 3). Insert a table. Choose Insert >Table. The Insert Table dialog box opens. Choose your table parameters (all of which can be changed later). Click OK to insert the table.
- 4). Center the table. Select the table. In the Property Inspector, choose the center option from the Alignment drop-down menu. Centering your design assures that it will be centered in any browser window.
- 5). Place text and images in the table cells. Use the cursor to select insertion points. Type text as you would in any word processing program. Combine rows and columns for better visual spacing in the Property Inspector.
- 6). Preview your Web page before uploading. Dreamweaver 4 lets you preview a Web page using any browser that is installed on your computer. Choose File > Preview in Browser>Edit Browser List. Then click the + button to add or select browsers.
- 7). Add Flash buttons, Image Maps and rollover effects to further enliven your page. All are available in Dreamweaver 4.
