A Building Program That Glorifies God
Answer these four questions before starting your building program.
1. Will our building expansion Glorify God?
You might answer yes to this questions if you believe your church is running out of room or because of the growth of your church, but will God be glorified with this building program at this time, with this pastor and church?
Before you start your building program be sure you sit down and count the cost (Luke 14:28). Figure out if you have the money, time, staff and leadership for the job.
Knowing that the cost must be counted, be aware that time will be taken away from your study, prayer, family and an already busy schedule.
2. What is the purpose behind your building program?
Your new building program, whether it's a new construction, remodeling or renovation, must be led by the Spirit and not be driven by leadership or ego.
Solomon built a magnificent and beautiful temple, yet failed the Lord and Israel miserably in his spiritual life.
3. Is the building program in the church's mission statement?
A mission statement is a must for your church and the people of your church need to know what that mission statement states. Fervent prayer and fasting follows so you will know the Lords clear direction as you move forward.
Study Nehemiah 1 & 2. Nehemiah fasted and mourned for up to 120 days and God gave him clear direction to proceed with a major building project.
4. Is this building program a necessity for our church?
Maybe you think you can't grow without building or your sanctuary is full. There are alternatives, such as, relocating to a gymnasium or having two services instead of one.
Maybe your need is for more classroom space, in this case an alternative could be to change the classroom or Sunday School structure which would free up classrooms for other ages.
If you have answered the four questions above and through prayer and fasting the Lord will be glorified through this building program - then continue in confidence in Him.
Do all things decently and in order as you move forward in your building program. In the life of your church, McNelly Construction can assist and instruct you in this opportunity.
