How to Partition Virtual Memory
- 1). Click on your "Start" menu and click "Control Panel."
- 2). Double-click "Administrative Tools" and go to "Computer Management." In Windows Vista and 7, go to "System and Security" first to access the administrative panel.
- 3). Navigate to "Disk Management" under the "Storage" category.
- 4). Right-click an empty space on your hard drive and click "Create Partition." Follow the partition wizard until you finish creating the partition.
- 5). Go back to your Control Panel and double-click "System." In Vista and Windows 7, you find "System" where you found "Administrative Tools" under "System and Security."
- 6). Click the "Advanced" tab. In Vista and Windows 7, click "Advanced System Settings."
- 7). Click "Settings" under "Performance."
- 8). Click "Advanced," then click the "Change" button.
- 9). Uncheck the "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" checkbox and select your system drive with virtual memory. Select "No page file" and click "Set." Select your virtual memory partition volume and click "System managed size" and click "Set." Click "OK" and quit all windows. Restart your computer to let the changes take effect.
