How to Work With Bungee Cords
- 1). Choose the appropriate length bungee cord. Bungee cords typically come in packages of varying sizes. Choose either a bungee cord that will fit around the object to be secured. Or, if you do not have the correct sized bungee, two cords can be hooked together to make a longer one. Just hold them hooked together until you can pull them taut.
- 2). Attach the hook at one end of the bungee cord to a secure object. For example, if you are moving something either on top of your car or in the bed of a pickup, secure the hook either at the top of a crease in the car's window or the railing along the edge of the pickup.
- 3). Pull the bungee cord over the object. Run the cord through openings in the object to make it more secure. For example, if you are securing a chair, loop the bungee cord through the legs or through the slats on its back.
- 4). Hook the other end of the bungee cord on the other side of the more secure object. For example, in the pickup scenario, hook it on the opposite side on the railing above the bed. If the cord is too slack, loop the cord more through the object, or, if there is a hole or an opening in the more secured object, loop it through the hole, back over the object and fasten it to the original side.
