Finger Sandwiches

• One typical finger food is the finger sandwich. Make sure that you also have vegetarian and vegan finger sandwiches so you will have something for everyone. Some finger sandwich ideas would be roll-ups, traditional sandwiches with bread, mini crostini's and ones made out of crackers. Some specific types of sandwiches you can serve include asparagus roll-ups, curried chicken tea sandwiches, chicken artichoke cheese spread and cucumber sandwiches. Desserts

• Mini desserts will also be a choice for you to serve before your wedding so your guests won't fill up on too much food. These are finger foods that can be taken in the hand with a napkin, so there is no need for plates. A tray of the bride and groom's favorite cookies adds a personal touch to the event, and you can put up a sign like "Mary's favorite chocolate chip cookies." Some other dessert ideas include mini tarts, apple pie bites, cookie sandwiches and creme puffs.
  
  

Cheese and Crackers

• Having a tray of cheese and crackers is another classic finger food option. When choosing crackers, try to find ones that are less likely to make a mess or your ceremony area will be covered in crumbs. You can also go with mini breads for your cheese platter instead of crackers. If you don't want to do the crackers, try meats like salami and prosciutto. Some cheese ideas would include goat cheese, smoked Gouda, aged cheddar, brie and parmigiano reggiano cheese.
  
  

Fruits and Vegetables

• A fondue may be a little much for setup for the pre-wedding festivities. Instead of a full fondue, opt for chocolate-dipped fruits like strawberries and pineapple. You can also have a tray of fresh fruit with toothpicks in them, or have the fruit arranged to look like a pineapple. Or, you can have a watermelon shaped like a basket and filled with fruit. You can also serve a vegetable tray with a variety of dips.
