Friends And Fun
"Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life", said Mark Twain. I couldn't agree more. A day out with my best friend(s) is enough to make me forget all worries of life. I still remember the day when I was feeling absolutely dejected a few years back. One of my board exams had gone horribly wrong and I was down in the dumps. That was my last board exam so I didn't need to go and sulk silently at home.
I didn't want to even show my face to my parents and hence I decided to have fun instead. My best friend and I went to her place and changed into some nice and fancy clothes. Then we picked up her car keys and decided to go for a long drive (she was 18 and she actually had a driver's license). The best part about being 18 is the freedom one gets. We listened to our favourite songs and sang together on the top of our voices. Then we came back and landed at our favourite mall. We called up all our friends and invited them to have lunch with us. We ate lunch at one of best restaurants in Delhi to celebrate our freedom. Post lunch, we happily bought tickets of a movie we were dying to watch. Since we had some more time to kill before it started, we went to the big bookstore in the mall. To say we went to a bookstore on the day of our last board exam might sound ironic, but that's how I am. To say that I love books would be an understatement. I honestly hold books and my best friend on the same level. If asked to choose one, I'd rather kill myself (just kidding, I would choose books).
We didn't want to miss the beginning and so we went to one of the finest cinemas in Saket from where we had already bought the tickets. Post that, it was time for me to face my parents. I went home, delivered my monologue explaining why I could not perform well, and then went to bed. Next morning, all was well. My seraphic parents did not utter a word about my exam and in fact laughed at my odd behaviour of previous night. Friends do manage to transform even the most unpleasant days into fun-filled and memorable ones!
