Which Treadmill Should I Buy?
Which Treadmill to Buy?
You have made your resolution to get into shape and thinking of buying a treadmill. You start looking and see that there are dozens of treadmills to choose from. No one has the time to research which ones are better than the rest. There are a couple of sites that have done the work for you and I have spent several hours reading their articles.
Some of you have the where-with-all to not be concerned about the price and just want the best that is available and then there are the rest of us that are a little more frugal and have a budget.
I have been in the fitness industry for over six years working in various health clubs and have seen more brands of equipment than I can remember. One thing that I do know is that, with use, every one of them wears out or breaks down. The more bells and whistles that get added on to the machine the more opportunity there is for malfunction.
What sets one brand apart from another is rigid construction and warranty service. There are several manufacturers that build a good quality product and get outstanding reviews from researchers. The one that I am going to talk about today is the Horizon Treadmill built by Johnson Health Tech.
Of the many that meet the standard for me of being well priced and reliable I chose the Horizon because it gets accolades from Consumer Reports (Horizon T202 gets a best buy), TreadmillAdvisor gives the T64HR editor's pick and TreadmillDoctor rates the Horizon T102 as best buy in the under $700 range.
If you want to stay under $1000 for your equipment Horizon has four to choose from. There is the Horizon Evolve SG - $499, the Horizon T101 - $599, the Horizon T202 - $799 and the Horizon T203 - $999.
The Evolve SG and the T101 are for those of us that are just into walking and want something that is light and easy to store at a price that won't break the bank. The Evolve SG folds up to a compact 10€ height and can be stored under a bed. It only offers speeds up to 6 mph the walking area only spans 45€ and there are only two programs to choose from. When you are a walker, not a jogger, and have limited space this is a perfect match.
The T101 is a bit larger and much sturdier. You get the Coolfit fan, Sonic Surround speakers, a plug for your Mp3 player, PerfectFLEX„ PLUS cushioning system track that is 55€ and a lifetime warranty on the motor instead of the five year that comes with the Evolve. Speed can be increased to 10 mph, a 0 €" 10% incline and there are nine programs to choose from and the larger 2.25 hp motor can handle up to a 275 lb person.
The Horizon T202 and T203 treadmills are built more for the runners. They are both designed to drive at a maximum 12 mph and incline to 12%. Both of these units have iPod adapters and are Nike integrated to track your progress allowing you to customize your workouts and create a program built around your targets. Coolfit fan, Sonic Surround speakers and PerfectFLEX„ PLUS cushioning system are standard as in the T101 but these models have 12 programs and up to 31 day tracking system to monitor your progress.
The Horizon T203 treadmill has a longer (60€) track and a heavier motor to accommodate the taller runners among us. The T203 also is equipped with a wide-screen blue backlit program window along with two smaller tracking screens. Motor and body on these machines are warrantied for life and the one year parts and labor warranty can be extended.
