How to Prevent Flagged Ads on Craigslist
- 1). Place your ad in the appropriate category and in the appropriate location for that category. Miscategorized ads are one of the top three reasons for ads being flagged.
- 2). Post your ad in one city and in one category, and don't repost your ad too frequently. Otherwise, it may be interpreted as spam, and spam is another one of the top three reasons for ads being flagged.
- 3). Follow Craigslist's Terms of Use when writing your ads, since the third top reason for flagged ads is prohibited content. The Terms of Use state that all ads must abide by the category-specific guidelines and no ads may contain copyrighted content without consent or content that is "unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, libelous, invasive of another's privacy or harmful to minors in any way." In addition, ads must be posted by individuals and not posting agents, all ads must be free of pornography and no ads may contain degrading, intimidating, hateful, discriminating, false or misleading content. Finally, no ads may contain links to commercial websites outside of the Services category, to viruses or to other content meant to damage computer software, hardware or other equipment.
