How to Keep an Airbrush From Clogging
- 1). Use the correct paint nozzle for the type of paint you are using. A thick paint may cause clogs as it tries to exit a small nozzle. If your paint is too thick, and you can't use a larger nozzle, thin your paint a little bit with paint thinner.
- 2). Use your airbrush correctly. Push the trigger down to deliver a stream of air, then ease it back to deliver paint. When done, ease the trigger forward to stop the paint and finish with a burst of clean air.
- 3). Clean your airbrush after every use. Empty the paint from the bottle or cup and attach a bottle or cup of airbrush cleaner. Spray the cleaner through the airbrush onto a paper towel to clean the mechanism.
- 4). Remove the needle from the airbrush and wipe it with a paper towel that has airbrush cleaner on it. Do this each time you clean your machine at the end of the session.
