How to Enable MMS on 3G

    • 1). Ensure you have the correct equipment and coverage to connect to a 3G network. This information is available from your cellular provider or in your cell phone's user manual. For example, Verizon Wireless cell phones indicate 3G coverage with signal indicators, usually either a 3G symbol or the letters EVDO (evolution, data-only).

    • 2). Remove any 3G access blocks from your cellular plan. This can include picture or video messaging blocks or general data network blocks. MMS messages will not be delivered on the 3G network if 3G coverage is blocked, causing slower data transfer rates or message failure.

    • 3). Remove any on-phone blocks for MMS. This may include turning on data services on your cell phone, or simply removing a security restriction from the phone's "Settings" menu.

    • 4). Add an MMS feature to your cellular service. Sometimes MMS provisioning is included in a regular text-messaging bundle, or it may need to be added, if MMS was previously blocked. Contact your cellular provider for details, or look for an MMS feature code in your plan details.

    • 5). Compose a picture or video message to ensure 3G MMS services were successfully enabled. Troubleshoot any errors or ongoing problems with your carrier or manufacturer.
