DIY Wedding Trellises
- 1). Dig holes at least 1 foot deep in the soil or sand, using a post digger. Since the depth of the hole is at least 1 foot, keep in mind the height of the bamboo or wooden posts you're using for the trellis. For example, if you want your trellis to be 8 feet high after installation, you'll need a post that is 9 or 10 feet high.
- 2). Set each post down into the hole and check that they are plumb using a level; Then pack the sand or soil around the post for stability.
- 3). Tie a piece of tulle or sheer fabric with ribbon around the top of one post. Make sure you cover the top completely. Stretch the material across to the second post, and tie it using a piece of ribbon. Use a piece of fabric long enough to create a swag in the center.
- 4). Attach small flower arrangements to the ribbon for added decoration. In a garden setting, string twinkling lights up each post for a romantic look, or string ivy garland, grape or birch branches around each post. You may also add materials that complement your theme. For example, wrap a pine garland around the posts for a holiday wedding or wrap the posts with palm fronds in a tropical-themed wedding.
