Hi, I'm Doctor Benest, dermatologist inLos Angeles, California, and today I want to talk to you about how to cure dry feet. Dry feet can about for several reasons. The first is a hereditary tendency toward dry skin. People who wear sandals or flip flops often are more prone to dry feet as well. There are other factors that can contribute to dry feet. Such as medication that might lower your cholesterol and reduce the fat in your fat in your body, poor nutrition, or allergies to some of the chemicals in the shoe such as the glues or tanning materials. Also, athlete's foot can present itself as dry feet. Various ways you can treat dried feet would be giving yourself a foot bath, such as some warm water with absence salts, massage the foot, and then rub some of the dry skin layers off during this process. After your foot bath, you'll want to put lotions on, particularly lotions that might contain urea or lactic acid, or glycolic acid as these can remove some of the dead layers and also soften the skin. You'll want to find out if you have athlete's foot. A doctor can do a little scraping and look under the microscope, and if so, treating it with athlete's foot cream will get rid of the dry feet. Sometimes people's feet are positioned poorly in the shoe, kind of like a misaligned tire that wears improperly if it's not flat on the surface. If you have that problem, your podiatrist can help treat you with orthotics in your shoes. Also, I recommend supplementing with omega-3 fish oils, as this can help move some of the hydration to the skin and overall improve dry skin. Thank you for watching. I'm Doctor Lisa Benest, dermatologist in Los Angeles, California, and these are some of the ways you can cure dry feet.
