How to Remove Paging Files in Vista
- 1). Press the "Windows" and "R" keyboard buttons simultaneously to open a "Run" dialog box.
- 2). Type "Sysdm.cpl" and click the "OK" button. This action opens a "System Properties" window on the screen.
- 3). Click the "Advanced" tab on the "System Properties" screen.
- 4). Click the "Settings..." button located in the "Performance" section of the "Advanced" tab. This displays a "Performance Options" window on your screen.
- 5). Click the "Advanced" tab in the "Performance Options" window and then click the "Change..." button located in the "Virtual Memory" section. This action opens a "Virtual Memory" window.
- 6). Click to remove the check in "Automatically Manage Paging..." check box and then click the radio button next to "No Paging File."
- 7). Click the "Set" button. This causes a confirmation dialog to display. Read and understand the warnings described in the dialog and then click the "Yes" button to confirm.
- 8). Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the "Virtual Memory" window. This action takes you back to the "Performance Options" window. Click the "Apply" button at the bottom of this window. This will display another confirmation dialog alerting you to reboot. Click the "Restart Now" button to restart your computer.
