How to Apply for a Radiology Job
- 1). Find an open position. Check CareerBuilder, Monster and other popular career websites to learn what radiology jobs are open in the health care field in your community. Review websites specifically geared to jobs and careers in radiology and the health care field such as the career center for the Radiological Society of North America, the American Society of Radiologic Technologists or RadWorking. Network with instructors from your radiology program, other students and professionals currently employed in the radiology field to learn if open, unadvertised positions exist in hospitals, clinics and other facilities near you.
- 2). Apply for the position. Put together your resume highlighting your experience and education in the radiology field, and fill out a paper or online application if required. Write a cover letter that expresses your interest in the position while also informing the hiring committee why you are the right person for the job. If needed, provide proof of your education or credentials by submitting copies of your transcripts or your license and certification.
- 3). Complete the interviews. Arrange a phone interview with the hiring committee to learn more about the position as well as discuss your experience and education. Follow up the phone interview with an in-person interview that allows you to meet potential co-workers and tour the radiology department or clinic. Sell the hiring committee on why you're the right candidate for the job while also providing a professional demeanor to ensure you get the job.
- 4). Arrange for checks. Grant the hiring committee permission to conduct background checks to ensure you have no criminal history or abuse complaints from former patients. Inform your references that the hiring committee will be calling. Make sure any licenses or certifications you hold in the radiology field are current without any problems or notations since most hiring committees verify these as well.
