    Amps and Pedals

    • Logic Pro's extensive collection of virtual guitar and bass amps, with associated cabinets, and their assortment of 30 virtual pedals--or stompboxes--allow you to capture signature guitar and bass sounds from a selection of genres and time periods. The effects parameters singular to each amp, along with its microphone settings, allow you to further customize your sound. You can plug any electric guitar into your audio interface to utilize these plug-ins, and you can also apply them to any other instrument or miked voice.

    Delay

    • Delay effects store the input signal, which is held and delayed, while the original signal is repeated. The original signal is then sent to its input or output, creating an echo effect. Logic Pro comes equipped with five different types of delay effects: Delay Designer, Echo, Stereo Delay and Tape Delay. Delay Designer can produce up to 26 taps (delays) per signal, and you can edit the parameters of each tap individually. Echo Delay automatically syncs the tempo of the delay with your project's tempo. Stereo and Tape Delay both imitate the warm, analog sound of vintage tape echo machines, but Tape Delay allows you to set the Delay, Feedback and Mix parameters separately for the left and right channels.

    Distortion

    • The Distortion effects included in Logic Pro simulate both analog and digital distortions. You can use these to profoundly transform and manipulate your audio. Logic Pro gives you six plug-ins with which to work: Bitcrusher, Clip Distortion, Distortion Effect, Distortion II, Overdrive and Phase distortion. Each is equipped with adjustable parameters for tone and gain, allowing you to shape and control the amount of distortion applied.

    Reverb

    • Digital reverb effects let you simulate the acoustic environments of various locations, such as open spaces, cathedrals, rooms and caverns. The effect is produced by a series of delays, which are shaped by the parameters of pre-delay, density and diffusion. These are commonly used on vocal tracks, to enhance them in the mix.

    Dynamics Processors

    • Dynamics processors allow you to adjust the dynamic range of individual audio files, whole tracks or an entire project. Logic Pro comes with four types of dynamic processors: compressors, expanders, limiters and noise gates. The compressor increases the perceived volume of a signal by actually lowering the highest parts. The expander does the same thing, but raises the signal when its volume rises above a certain level. The limiter is used to prevent clipping while preserving the maximum overall signal level. Noise gates are used to cut out soft sounds, such as low-level noise or hum from an audio signal.

    EQ

    • Logic Pro comes with a collection of single band and multiband EQ plug-ins. EQs, or equalizers, allow you to shape the sound of your audio by changing the levels of various frequency bands. Single band EQ includes low cut and high cut, lowpass and highpass, shelving and parametric EQs, and are simpler than multiband EQs. Multiband EQs allow for more control, as you can independently set the frequency, bandwidth, and Q factor of each frequency spectrum band. The Q factor, or quality factor, defines the sharpness of the band of frequencies that are affected by the EQ.

    Filter

    • Logic Pro provides five types of filter plug-ins: AutoFilter, EVOC 20 Filterbank, EVOC 20 TrackOscillator, Fuzz-Wah and Spectral Gate. Filters can significantly alter your audio signal by suppressing or emphasizing frequencies. Filter effects allow you to emulate the sounds of analog synthesizers, the funky "wah wah" of a classic clavinet keyboard, or a vocoder. Vocoders are devices that transform analogue voice signals into a digital, non-human, robotic sounding voice. Vocoders were especially popular in pop music from the 80s.
