  If you're decorating for a Western theme party, you've got to understand the aesthetic. While the Western look incorporates the feel of the cowboy and the desert, it also plays with colors and art. Use these two ideas to throw a party that will make your guests feel as if they are truly at home in the middle of an old-fashioned Wyoming saloon.
  
  

Colors

  Before truly experimenting with decor and specific stylistic items, make sure your party is colored with the right hues. While your favorite purple couch may always be a hit, the colors of the West should take over. Drape your furniture with fabric reminiscent of the colors of the desert: burnt oranges, sandy tans, cactus greens and soil-inspired reddish browns. These colors will automatically set a Western tone.
  
  

Decor

  Buy some gun-slinging cowboy posters; Western movie posters, such as those featuring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, create fun and colorful cowboy art. Alternately, purchase Western-themed oil paintings to hang on your walls. Such paintings are best complemented by ornate metal rods used to hang the art. Just an image or two can really finish the Western atmosphere.
