How to Reduce Fountain Splatter

    • 1). Locate the shutoff valve that supplies the fountain with water. Trace the water line from the fountain to the shutoff valve.

    • 2). Turn the knob or handle of the shutoff slightly clockwise. This will reduce water flow to the fountain and reduce splatter that is caused by too much pressure.

    • 3). Spray a penetrating catalyst into the fountainhead if reducing the water pressure did not fix the splatter problem. The catalyst will loosen any debris that is stuck in the fountainhead that prevents the water from flowing out in a steady stream.

    • 4). Straighten a paper clip and stick the end of it into the fountainhead to dislodge debris that may be partially blocking the orifice. Work the paper clip in and out of the fountainhead orifice in conjunction with using the penetrating catalyst to thoroughly clean it.

    • 5). Test the fountain and let it run for at least three to five minutes to rinse away the residue from the penetrating catalyst.
