Connective Tissue Anatomy: Where the Qi Flows

103 5
The article covers the geography and makeup of connective tissue that envelops the human body and its relationship to the flow of Qi (Chi).
• Development: All connective tissues develop from the mesoderm layer of tissue in the developing embryo.
• Functions: Connective tissue performs a variety of functions including: 1.
Bind muscles and other structures together, connective tissue is the body investment or envelope 2.
Protect by creating a boundary from possible invasive substances and outside injuries 3.
Circulate fluids, blood, lymph, and cerebral spinal fluid throughout the body 4.
Store excess foods and fat cells 5.
Stimulate inflammation for faster repair of injuries and fight fevers • Make-Up: 1.
Different cells depending on the various functions of the connective tissue.
2.
Fibers in various shapes and configurations depending on their function 3.
Amorphous Ground Substance, which is the gelatinous substance between all fibers and cells with the unique capability of changing from a gelatin to a liquid with heat, pressure, and friction applied.
• Types of Connective Tissue 1.
LOOSE are spongy, webbed with holes.
Examples include the areolar, adipose, and reticular.
2.
DENSE are fibers take the place of spaces and holes.
Examples include the fascia, tendons, and ligament.
3.
REGULAR have parallel fibers.
Among the kinds are the tendons, which attach muscle to bone, and ligament, which attaches bone to bone, both have elastic fibers.
4.
IRREGULAR have random interwoven fibers.
An example is the fascia, which holds everything together.
• Where the Qi (Chi) Flows: The fibers communicate the Qi (Chi) to each other geographically through their vibrational rhythm and responsiveness to stimuli.
The speed of the flow of Qi (Chi) is determined by the density of the fibers and the liquidity of the Amorphous Ground Substance (AGS) The AGS can be changed from a gel, or gelatinous consistency, to a sol, or liquid consistency with the application of heat, pressure, or friction.
It is the liquidity of the AGS conducts the electromagnetism.
The Meridians are the rivers and streams of direction of the gross output of all the physiological processes known as the Qi (Chi).
Their flow is determined by the above states of the Connective Tissue anatomy.
