How to Safely Remove a Registry Entry in XP
- 1). Click "Start" and "Run." Type "regedit" and press "Enter."
- 2). Click "File" and "Export." Create a name for the exported backup registry. Click "Save." Exporting your registry before you start allows you to recover your original settings if you delete the incorrect entries.
- 3). Navigate through the registry entries using the sidebar on the left of the utility. Expand the folders and subfolders until you reach the specific registry key you want to delete.
- 4). Right-click the registry entry and choose "Delete."
