Sesame Seeds for Growing

    • 1). Select the proper site for planting the sesame seeds. Sesame requires well drained soil, so if the site collects standing water after a rainfall, move on to another site.

    • 2). Remove all weeds from the site with a hand spade, or pull them out by the roots with your hands. Use your hands to break up any large clumps of soil on the surface of the planting site. Do this when the temperature of the soil reaches a minimum of 70 degrees F., which is usually about one month after the last frost.

    • 3). Dig a small hole between 1/2-inch to 1-inch deep. Drop a seed into each hole and cover it with soil.

    • 4). Water the soil until the seed settles. The seeds should germinate and break the soil within two weeks.
