How to Work With Crotch Wood
Flower Container
- 1). Draw level lines on the branches that form the crotch of the tree. The lines need to be perfectly straight across from each other.
- 2). Screw L brackets into the tree so the brackets are positioned to brace the floor of your flower box. The number of L brackets you use depends on how many branches are forming the crotch and how large your flower container is.
- 3). Set your empty flower container on top of the L brackets and screw through the L brackets and into the bottom of your flower container. If you're using plastic or ceramic containers, build a wooden platform out of 1-by-4 lumber. Brace your platform with 2-by-2 lumber and screw the L brackets to your platform.
- 4). Fill your flower container with planting soil and plant shade flowers inside the container.
